Lesson Plan Database
Welcome. This is a small collection of lesson plans aimed towards high school level courses. These resources can be used in many different social science contexts, but they are specifically focused on history. Each of the plans revolves around the subject of legal borderlands. Topics focus on the might of the United States’ legal influence during its acts of imperialism and colonialism. The lesson plans are focused on four areas in which the United States’ legal system has superseded sovereignty. These places include China, Puerto Rico, the Philippines, and Guantanamo Bay.
Some lesson plans focus on citizens and individuals, while others focus on the larger relationship between nation states. These lesson plans are meant to be a starting point in order to generate thought and conversations about power and influence. Ultimately, this website is a larger resource for teachers who are trying to find lesson plans that can give their students a broader perspective of the United States when it comes to its role in world history.
